# Read my screen-capture protection

Whether the signed-in person's desktop window is protected from screenshots and screen recordings, how, and until when it is not: mode is on (protected, and they may grant themselves a window), locked (protected, and they may not) or off (not protected); style is hidden (the windows are excluded, so a screenshot and a recording both come back empty) or blur (the app frosts itself while a recorder is running, which covers a recording but NOT a screenshot, because macOS never tells an app one was taken); allowedUntil is set while a self-granted window is still running. Never 404s — somebody nobody has decided about reads on and hidden, the protected default. One person's own state, read off the session.
