# Deactivate a deal split

Retires a stake: its status becomes inactive and the moment is stamped, so the record of who was on the deal survives its replacement and the unique index is free for a successor. There is no DELETE on a stake, deliberately — this is the route to call before adding the stake that replaces it.

Access class: `workspace`.
